We had a wonderful Chritmas. Jensen was very excited about getting presents and Siesa of course loved all the wraping paper the best. Jensen got a drum, rain boots(now hopefully he won't always have wet shoes, what little kid can't help jumping into puddles?)books, cars and clothes. Siesa got a push/ride toy, clothes, a doll (the doll was more for Jensen's sake, he has been saying for weeks that Santa was going to bring her one, he was quite happy when she did) and a stacking musical toy. Derek and I got sheet rock for Christmas. We have been doing some remodeling while Derek has some time off work. We also got an Ikea gift card, books, and board games from family.
It took us 4 1/2 hours to open all our gifts. It took so long because every gift we opened Jensen wanted to play with.

Siesa 9 Months (last week)
We took these pictues out in our yard. It was a beautiful day and we took advantage of it and played out side all day.
Siesa learned to clap. She can even make a noise when she does. The other day she was sitting looking up at the Christmas tree and started clapping with the biggest smile. This is of her clapping when we were eating dinner so she is a little dirty.
-Siesa has 4 teeth 2 on top and 2 on bottom.

-Siesa loves to eat vegetables. She especially loves sweet potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. For the first month of giving her solid food she didn’t like any fruits, but now she likes them OK. She wants to feed her self and always seems to get very, very messy trying to eat.
-Siesa recognizes her name. She also knows the meaning of the word no.
-She still loves to suck my thumb
-She can wave.
-She still loves to take a bath. As soon as I turn on the water she leans over the tub trying to get in. The whole time she splashes very happily.
-She doesn’t like getting her diaper changed or getting dressed. I think because she has to stop playing it is very inconvenient and she gets mad.
-She has learned how to climb up stairs, unfortunately not how to get down with out falling.

Masquerade Ball
Friday night we went to Derek’s work party. It was crazy fun. It was a semi-formal Masquerade ball so we got all dressed up and I made masks for us to wear. They were having a competition for the most creative, mysterious and elaborate masks. I won first prize for the most creative. I won a two hundred dollar American express gift card. Too cool! We felt like we were living the high life. It was at a huge hotel and there were probably a couple thousand people there. We even got to valet park our car for free. There was lots of yummy food and a big buffet. For the entertainment there was dancing, casino room, and lots of drunk people. We were given some fake money for the casino room where we played a little black jack. I quickly lost all of my money; Derek did a little better than I did. We had a great time but were out way too late
It is kind of hard to tell but I decorated our masks mostly with beans so now Derek is officially a bean counter.
Early Christmas
We had an early Christmas. Bryce and Debbie came to visit for a few days. Of course they wanted to see Jensen and Siesa open their gifts so we had an early Christmas. It was fun because in 3 weeks we will get to have Christmas again. I can’t really tell you what we got because it is very similar to what the rest of the Drysdales will get and I don’t want to spoil the surprise. But here are some picture of the day.
We went to dinner at Huoston’s to celebrate Derek passing the CPA exam. It was soooo yummy. Derek had a very yummy stake and I had fish (I think it was striped bass) and shrimp. When we left the restaurant Jensen started to tell us what his favorite part was. He first said that he really liked the ice cream, French fries, and ketchup. Then he said, “Oh and I really liked my grilled cheese sandwich, oh and the brownie was really good, too.” In other words, Jensen’s favorite part was everything.
Siesa got her first taste of BBQ ribs yum, yum.

Christmas Fun
Saturday we had a busy day of tons of fun Christmas activities. In the morning we went down town for a Christmas parade. It was a lot bigger than we had anticipated. Jensen said that his favorite part was the roller skaters and the drums. There were quite a few marching bands Jensen would yell and point out all the instruments he saw. Siesa liked the big balloons the best and the music as well. Then in the afternoon we went to cut down our Christmas tree. We also put up some Christmas lights on our house. Now we really have the Christmas spirit around here.

Road Trip
We had a great Thanksgiving. We went on a trip to visit Derek’s Sister the Buhler family in Columbus Ohio. We left last Monday morning for the almost 600 mile drive (each way). The kids are great little travelers and we had a great time.
This is a replica of the Santa Maria (it was a lot smaller than I would have thought) there was also a statue of Christopher Columbus very fitting since we were in Columbus Ohio also a little odd since he never visited there oh well.
On Thursday we did the usual. We cooked a lot of yummy food and stuffed ourselves silly.

Don’t those pies look yummy! We made pumpkin, apple and chocolate
At the topiary garden
We drove home all day Saturday. We did spend a few hours in Lexington visiting a horse park and museum. Jensen and Siesa enjoyed seeing all the horses. There were all different types of horses. It was interesting to see and be able to compare them. Now I understand the difference between a race horse, work horse, etc. The museum had some interesting exhibits about the history of horses. It is amazing how long horses were used in society for so many different things and in just a relatively short time most people don’t even know how to ride a horse.

M&M’s - melts in your mouth, not in your hands
For some reason when it comes to Halloween costumes we always seem to go as food. What can I say, we like to eat around our place. And what's better than chocolate?
Saturday we went to our ward party and had a great time. We had a BBQ and trunk or treat. There were also small pumpkins to paint and trick or treat bags to make. Some people went all out for the car decorating and that was fun. Jensen enjoyed trick or treating but the whole time he kept asking if he could have a donut yet. There were some donuts in the church to eat after we went trick or treating. I guess he likes donuts more than the candy.

Happy Birthday Derek!
Jensen and I made birthday hats for him early that day. That was a fun craft project. We used almost a whole container of Elmer’s Glue on the four hats. Jensen also enjoyed using scissors to cut up the paper for the hats.
For dinner I made Chimichangas and of course we had cake and ice cream. Jensen was very excited all day(really all week for his birthday)when Derek walked in the door Jensen ran up to Derek and said “ daddy I’m making pizza” What?! I guess by the time Derek finally got home he was tired of this birthday and had moved on to bigger and better things like pretending to make pizza with corn and macaroni and cheese on top according to Jensen. Derek got a manly drill, a watch, socks, gift card to home depot, a shirt, a tie and ten new songs from i-tunes. For two hours Friday night we partied to music as Derek tried to pick his favorite ten songs. I must say it was definitely a flash back to the eighties.

Curls or Straight?
For the first time since Jensen was 12 months old I have let his hair grow. Usually I cut it every 3 weeks. I didn’t even know that his hair was so curly because it has always been very short. So what do you think curly mop top, or short and straight? The Young Women in our ward think curly but I can’t decide if I like it.
Teeth, teeth, teeth
Siesa’s teeth came in a month ago but I finally got a picture of them. So cute. She’s been drooling and been very irritable for a few days, I think she is getting more teeth.

6 months
That’s right Siesa is already 6 months old. (She actually was 6 months September 12) She is 24 ½ inches and weights 15 lbs, 11 oz. The biggest change in Siesa over the last few months is that she is mobile and loves it. She loves to be on the ground exploring and eating anything she can find. She is still a very quiet baby but very happy and smiley.
